  3.           (the following assumes the modem is working otherwise)

  5.     If you are using Prodigy or America OnLine with a high speed modem  the
  6.  
  7. try putting &q6 into the string.  You do NOT want to have a DT at the end (
  8.  
  9. &q6DT ), you should try with an AT as the prefix ( AT&q6 ).  If this  still
  10.  
  11. doesn't  work,  on  the  9600 line use &q0s37=9n0   or  on  the  2400  line
  12.  
  13. &q0s37=6n0  which causes a 'direct' connect rather than using buffering  in
  14.  
  15. the modem.

  17.                 Here's a string to try.       AT&F&Q6&K0E0
  18.  
  19.      If  you are unsure if you are connecting, then try calling  the  local
  20.  
  21. Prodigy/AOL  number from terminal mode of a regular telecom  program  (like
  22.  
  23. Telix,  Procomm,  MTEZ, Comit, Bitcom etc). Then you will SEE  a  'CONNECT'
  24.  
  25. message if you do connect. This will eliminate a modem problem, perhaps the
  26.  
  27. Prodigy  you  have has an fault in it.  Type AD&Q6DTnumber    to  test,  or
  28.  
  29. insert the other strings above before the DT.
